Requirements

Minimum Levels of Education
  • No previous medical experience is necessary.

  • Applicant must be at least 18 years of age

  • Applicant must have completed a high school education with diploma or GED equivalent. Applicants must posses a high school level mastery of the English language in reading and writing. (No other language services will be offered at this time)

  • For EMT Academy students only: Prior to course admission, student must have a valid Basic Life Support Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certificate consistent with American Heart Association or Red Cross.

Basic Life Support Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (BLS CPR)

(BLS) Basic Life Support CPR: This class will focus on the management of patients who exhibit signs of Cardiac and Stroke symptoms. This course will prepare the professional responder to recognize, appropriately treat symptoms of a heart attack, stroke or foreign body airway obstruction and take action. Upon successful completion of the skills based and written test an American Heart Association* CPR Card will be issued. This course covers adult, infant and child CPR.

*The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.

Admission Documents​

Prior to the start of your course, you must provide:

  • A copy of valid ID

  • A copy of high school diploma or GED equivalent or college transcript

  • A copy of BLC CPR certificate

In addition, students must the complete the below documents. These documents will be presented to you upon admission :

  • School's Performance Fact Sheet

  • Student Enrollment Agreement

  • Disclaimer

  • Photo Release and Consent Form

  • Externship Contract (Ride Along)

  • Release of Liability, Indemnity and Assumption of Risk Agreement

  • Denial and Revocation of EMT Certificate

Pay-Over-Time Solutions

1.    Automatic Recurring Payments(Payment Plans) –Automatic recurring schedules gives students the flexibility to pay over time without any interest or fees. Students interested in this option will be required to sign an agreement. Payment plans consist of either weekly or bi-weekly payments from the time of agreement through mid-course. 

2.    Financing – Bay Area Training Academy contracts with a third tuition financing company for financing options up to 6 months. Students will be required to fill out a credit application form for eligibility check. Once approved, there will be a 2% to 5% interest rate depending on credit history.

Immunization for EMT Program

Bay Area Training Academy requires immunization records for clinical externship and ride alongs:

  • TB (tuberculosis) - Valid within last 3 months 

    • OR clear chest x-ray w/in 6 months if tested positive

    • OR Quantiferon within 3 months

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)

  • Tetanus (within 10 years)

  • Varicella (Chicken Pox) – Hx does not suffice!

  • Hepatitis B

  • Influenza and COVID Immunization 

    • OR Declination (will have to wear a mask during rotation/ridealongs)
